How to Figure the Pitch of a Blade and Number of Teeth
TO OBTAIN PITCH:
• To obtain pitch (P) of a blade (the distance between teeth: See Formula "A" , Fig. 20) multiply the thickness of the work piece by 1.4142 and divide by 3 (if you want 3 teeth cutting when ripping) or by 4 (if you want 4 teeth cutting when ripping). The same formula applies when crosscutting using the recommended 5 to 7 teeth. |

• FORMULA "B": To obtain the number of teeth (Z) of the sawblade, multiply the diameter (D) of the saw blade by 3.14 (P) and divide by the pitch of the sawblade - obtained from the previous formula.
The shorter Formula "C" allows you to obtain the number of the saw blade's teeth, knowing it's diameter and the thickness of the work piece. |
