Stone Recommendation Chart
| Traditionally, Hard Jointing stones (Coarser 80 to 240 grit) are used on 3,600 rpm machines. Soft jointer stones (Finer 280 to 600 grit) are used on 6,000 rpm machines. | |
| Grit Size: | Finer grits (higher number) produce better finish quality. Coarse grit stones will joint up faster and have a longer life. |
| Bonds: | Resin-better
finish, will not hold a form as long. Vetrified - cooler cuts, better for holding qualities than Resin. |
| Abrasive Materials: | Green Silicon Carbide: Cuts cooler and faster than Black Silicon Carbide. |
| Black Silicon Carbide: Smoother finish, longer life. | |
| Aluminum Oxide: Pure White Cuts fast and cool, best for Straight Joints on Planers. | |
| NOTE: Grinding accuracy is critical in determining proper jointing stone selection. | |
