WISCONSIN KNIFE WORKS Shaper Steel Uses Only The High-Quality Raw Steel. The unfinished Shaper Steel is inspected for its quality, then pre-ground and vacuum heat-treated under the most advanced and state-of-the-art metallurgical control to assure uniform hardness throughout the bar. Once the Shaper Steel is hardened, it is triple tempered and surface ground utilizing the most up-to-date machinery. Finally, each bar is inspected for proper hardness (61/63RC Scale) and accuracy. Shaper Steel comes 30° beveled edge both sides. Under 1" wide cannot be notched.

Available in two grades AKM and M2 High Speed Steel (HSS) which is the industry standard. AKM is an excellent alternative to the M-2 with similar characteristics. AKM is good for medium to short runs. Lumber and woodworking plants the world over specify M-2 High Speed Steel (HSS) knives to produce the finest finish cuts. The consistent hardwness and high molybdenum content give an excellent edge and allows for easy grinding. High Speed Steel is ideal for medium to long runs. Both AKM and M2HSS are available in 1/4" , 5/16" and 3/8" thicknesses and offered in various widths for your profile applications.

Additional Cost For Shaper Steel Notched One Or Both Sides.

For safety purposes, Wood Tech strongly recommends the use of Notched edge (Lockedge) on shaper steel in corresponding lockedge safety shaper collars with adjusting worm screw. Please call with any questions.
